Review of Nightbreed (1990) by Syed R — 08 Aug 2014
This is like Alice In Wonderland plus Beetlejuice plus Pan's Labyrinth in the darker version and from the twisted mind of Clive Barker! The make-up effect here is amazing, imaginative, original, and badass as hell! The GORES and SCARE here benefit largely from the gruesome bloody creature make-up even though they might not be as blood splattering as Barker's Hellraiser but it's still fascinating to see all these creatures come to live.
The script here can get cheesy sometimes but overall it's a fast-paced film with epic and loud action sequences that succeed in delivering the FUN for horror/fantasy/action and Clive Barker fans himself.
An instant classic for the genre! [B+].
