Review of Night on Earth (1991) by Jason R — 06 May 2009
Beautiful film. Not just for the acting, storyline, etc., but for the way that it gives you a small glimpse of each city as well. Most movies that focus upon cities like Paris, Rome, etc., rub it into your face exactly where you are by constantly focusing upon well-known landmarks.
'Night on Earth' explores other parts of the cities, as taxi drivers naturally do, and therefore presents a more diverse, interesting perspective overall. The characters are all fascinating in their own way, though I think I loved the quirkiness and subtle mania of the Roman cabbie the best.
