Review of Night on Earth (1991) by Kevin M — 11 Sep 2007
Scene by scene: I challenge someone to find me a movie where winona ryder is actually believable. gena rowlands saves this scene. the new york scene has its moments, especially with armin mueller-stahl's innocent smile running throughout.
the paris scene really had me the whole time as it kept taking turns I should've seen coming but somehow didn't. roberto benigni is fucking annoying. i'm sorry, I just can't see it any other way.
the final scene in helsinki made the entire film for me. very touching and surprisingly humorous. all in all, one of jarmusch's best but I expected much more.
