Review of Night on Earth (1991) by Zhanyi J — 04 Dec 2007
This is a great movie, especially if you like Jim Jarmusch, the man who hasn been called the "slowest director of all time", well maybe more accurately, he's the most patient director of all time.
He just sort of lets his characters breathe, there's never any sense that he's hurrying the action for the sake of plot development. Roberto Benigni was brilliant, I laughed so hard during his scene I almost cried.
I also really liked the scene with the blind french girl who shows an African taxi driver just how she sees in a world full of darkness (and I'm not referring only to her blindness) And of course seeing the old New York, the real New York before it was Gulianized, is always a treat for me.
Check it out!
