Review of Night on Earth (1991) by Jason W — 13 Jun 2008
This pretty much assures me that I'm a fan of Jim Jarmusch. No plot to speak of, so if you need that kind of structure you likely won't enjoy it. I like character pieces, and basically watching a series of sitcom-length vignettes in taxi cabs is a good way to do it.
Each one has a different feel to it, from LA to NY to Paris to Rome to Helsinki. Well done. Encapsulates the wild and crazy world of driving a cab, the eccentricities of the passengers and the drivers themselves. Excellent film.
