Review of Night of the Zombies (1980) by Sturmbannführer M — 05 Mar 2008
Bruno Mattei really shines here, and, of course, when Bruno Mattei shines, it means that the movie is hilariously incompetent and ridiculous crap that is the nie-on definition of "so bad it's good.
" Hell, it doesn't even seem like Mattei is trying here. The obvious comic relief (I forget his name, but names aren't really important) in a movie already hilarious in its own premise is insanely effective, and the excess and cheesy gore and terrible acting really seals the deal.
Perhaps the lone setback (other than being horrible, but great in its own right) is the length, as the film gets a bit cumbersome toward the end. Other than that, it remains a wonderful zombie-sploitation flick for B-lovers, but Massacre in Dinosaur Valley will always remain the iconic great-bad film of all-time.
