Yes the movie is very creepy and a well made zombie film but it also has a hidden story about racism. At least I think so since there's only one black person in the movie and he's the hero. I heard that a black man was shot by trigger happy policemen after stopping a robbery at a 7-Eleven.
The ending of this movie kind of reminds me of that.... So in a way the trigger happy white people in the movie are about as scary as the zombies and I think Romero was going for that.
