Review of Night of the Creeps (1986) by Chris R — 26 Jul 2009
From the director of the cult classic 80's kid movie "The Monster Squad" comes Fred Dekker's directory debut "Night of the Creeps". Set to be released on DVD for the first time this October I was curious to check this movie out ahead of time so I downloaded a VHS rip.
My first thought watching this movie was "This is really weird". A movie about zombies starts on a giant spaceship with naked aliens (little people dressed up) running around shooting each other.
The plot is basically about these slug things being shot out of this spaceship down to earth and taking over human bodies (dead or alive) and turning them into zombies. Sounds like fun right? Well, it is but I still felt a bit underwhelmed by the end of it and thought it needed more zombie action. I'm definitely going to check out the DVD when it comes out and see it again in it's fully remastered widescreen glory.
The movie has some cringe worthy scenes and ridiculous plot lines but over-all it's fairly enjoyable. I'd recommend the Monster Squad over this any day, but who knows maybe I'll have a better opinion of this after another viewing.
If you feel like watching an 80's teen horror movie that isn't over the top with extreme gore then maybe this is for you!
