Review of Night of the Comet (1984) by Del T — 13 May 2010
Dawn of the Dead lite. Romero's sequel epic provides the inspiration for this dumb but breezy, funny rip off. Two Valley Girls are the few survivors of zombie apocalypse caused by title comet. Very conveniently their dad just so happened to have taught them the art of handling firearms.
Hot chicks blasting zombies with high powered weapons is always a crowd pleaser.
Like Dawn of the Dead, the chicks take refuge in a shopping mall, and go to town with all the free stuff. But soon realize they are not alone. Oh Shit, where's my Uzi ?
Movie's best scene, store's zombiefied stock boys play " Scary Noises" with the our heroines. Probably 2nd to The Deer Hunter in depiction of intense Russian Roulette.
Movie falls apart towards the end as a somber Mary Warnov, hiding out in dreary underground lair, needs the girls to find a cure. Movie should've stayed in the mall.
