Review of Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014) by Christian C — 25 Apr 2015
The 'Night at the Museum' franchise has always been able to capitalize on the limitless creative possibilities of its simple premise. Sometimes the gags drive the plot and sometimes they just make you chuckle for a few seconds.
It's more of the same for the final chapter - and that's just fine. If the movie has a shortcoming, it's that it has lost a bit of the wonder that defined the first two. That's probably to be expected.
Nevertheless, there are some hilarious additions here - Ben Stiller playing a Neanderthal with daddy issues, Dan Stevens playing a very literal Lancelot, and some unexpected cameos from Hollywood A-listers that really elevate the third act.
'Night at the Museum' has probably run its course, but I'll miss these characters and their whimsical adventures.
