Review of Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (2014) by Owen L — 15 Jan 2015
With some superficial tolerance and optimism, I was able to swallow the first one and, granted I didn't even care to catch Battle of the Smithsonian when it came around, Secret of the Tomb (already bearing what couldn't possibly be a more boring title) did give me a good few chuckles and grins but failed to enthrall me; the very thing a franchise ripping off its own recipe should try to emphasize; some sort of ultimate culmination, unless of course the film's primary purpose was just to be another God damn, half-baked, lucrative exploitation.
I know, I know it's for the kids, but my philosophy on modern kids' films lies with the filmmakers' inclusion of subliminal, mature entertainment as well, of which there is not enough to respect moviegoing parents who have already taken a 50-50 chance on their toddler throwing a temper tantrum during the most important scene of the movie.
