Review of Night and the City (1950) by Tom W — 11 Apr 2008
A great little noir about self destructive personalities, those "artist(s) without an art" and about wrestling. This film simply brims with energy, thanks to Richard Widmark, but its the noble Gregorius' feud with his opportunist son that gives this film heft.
It also features a thoroughly meaningful and technically sound wrestling match that honors a much maligned sport/entertainment style.
