I wonder if audiences at the time were aware of the fraudulent aspects of Porter's life as shown in this film? Or if they cared? Certainly it was his music that attracted them. And that's what attracts me to this guilty pleasure.
Porter's list of songs is well represented, and presented, however Grant is wooden and Smith is distant, but they still don't sink the whole thing.
