Review of Night and Day (1946) by Mary M — 30 Oct 2007
The worst Cary Grant movie I've ever seen. He's bored. And then there's the insufferable Monty Woolley playing -- who else? -- himself. And soupy renditions of the great songs (except for Mary Martin's really terrific "Heart Belongs to Daddy").
The closer -- a solemn "Night and Day" set at Old Yale -- may be the most ludicrous moment in either Curtiz's or Grant's bodies of work.
