Review of Nico and Dani (2000) by Ian S — 11 Nov 2011
Of the many gay movies I've seen lately, this Spanish one felt the most "real" to me. It's about two 17 year old boys exploring their sexuality, one of them being hetero- and one of them being homo-.
It explores how confusing and difficult it can be when the lines between friendship and sex blur. I'm sure it's something many adolescents can relate to when they're trying to figure themselves out.
It's hard for me to describe this without regurgitating what other critics have already said about this film. I'll just say it's a refreshing take that doesn't engage in stereotypes.
