Review of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (2008) by Peter B — 20 Jun 2010
A nice little tale where you do kind of end up caring bout the main duo. Its a bit slight and lightweight and tries to be intentionally "quirky" just for the sake of it but its perfectly alright while its on.
When it ends however you start to wonder why you like it less and less by the second. Probably because it feels quite fake and its neither dramatic nor funny nor anything at all really. It just exists.
For some reason I picture it being produced by a bunch of fortysomethings- some with goatees some with soul patches, all with portable cd players instead of ipods, all who say the word cool even when they dont mean it, all banding together to make a film that they think speaks to the youth of today about whats happening in their lives.
Now and then who knows maybe it does....but its like when you spray air freshener, you can smell the air freshener sure but not completely - theres a weird combination of smells. It doesnt smell real bad but it doesnt smell right either.
Or maybe it does. What the flip do I know....see it if you want, hopefully you'll like it. Why do you need me to tell you if its good? You dont? Oh, okay. Good for you. But basically its the peter dictionary definition of an air freshener film.
