Review of Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist (2008) by Janet M — 31 Mar 2012
Nick and Norah's Infinate Playlist is a cute and slightly off-beat teen romantic dramedy that treads familiar territory, but the leads Micheal Cera and Kat Dennings as the titular characters of Nick and Norah have sufficient charm to carry the audience through the film's rough patches.
Also of note are Nick's gay bandmates and Norah's perpetually drunk friend Caroline. The story is different enough to be somewhat interesting, but things do pan out the way you want them to in the end.
The true star of the film is the music. The songs throughout the film are quite catchy and I enjoyed the majority of the music. I can't speak to much of the indie music scene because I really don't know much about it, especilly in New York, but I found the journey that the characters take through the film relateable to experiences from my own life.
When I was considerably younger, that is. Not a film for everyone, but in my eyes, an enjoyable film that is worth a look.
