Review of Next Day Air (2009) by Paul W — 17 Sep 2009
A poor man's Snatch. It's about this delivery of cocaine hidden in a vase, delivered by a company called Next Day Air. The guy delivering it (Donald Faison) is kind of a screw-up and delivers it to the neighboring apartment on accident.
The gentlemen there then try to carpe diem and it goes from there. This was advertised to me as, "It's like Snatch. With black people!" And that's pretty much what it is. It's criminals that suck at crime, only it doesn't have the Guy Ritchie stylizations in it, something that could have benefited the movie nicely.
It's fun because it never takes itself to seriously (Mike Epps was pretty much made for this role), but at the same time, there is much less substance than your regular manly men with guns movie. I don't know why Mos Def is being advertised as being in this movie in the trailers; he's barely onscreen for five minutes.
Could have been better.
