Review of Next (2015) by Brad G — 08 May 2010
Sure, this semi-low budget, mishandled Philip K Dick adaptation looks cheaper than it should (thank you uncomfortable CGI), sports one of the least appealing cinematic romances (Jessica Biel, what is your character thinking?), and the unaffiliated nuclear terrorist subplot is fairly boring (Julianne Moore, we get it, youâ??re intense!).
However, I really dig Nicolas Cageâ??s Frank Cadillac (howâ??d he get that name? Combined the two things he loved: Frankenstein & Cadillacs!) and the initial concept of 2 Minute Foresight is handled particularly well, especially the overextended climactic shootout.
Not going to win any awards, but if youâ??re looking to fix that Nic Cage habit or youâ??re in the mood for inferior Philip K Dick than this will fit the bill. VF..
