Review of Newsies (1992) by Elijah D — 15 May 2009
This is an entertaining, feel-good movie about the little guy standing up to the big, bad corporation, and in this case the "little guy" is a bunch of singing, dancing, newspaper delivery boys.
The songs are catchy and well-choreographed, and even if they're a little cheesy, that doesn't take away from the fun. I liked most of the characters, though it's a shame that the writers felt the need to force a dull and unnecessary romance into the story.
There are a few other cliched plot points, too, but flaws and all, I still recommend this to anyone who can appreciate light-hearted musicals, or who wants to see a young Christian Bale in one of his earliest roles.
