Review of Newsies (1992) by Lisa C — 17 Aug 2010

This movie almost feels if they took a Bowery Boys script, filmed it in color, and make it into a musical. It's ok, the film doesnt have a lot of memorable music though. Christian Bale is sort of fun watching him sing and dance (neiither of which he can do well).

I did like the supporting characters played by Bill Pullman and Robert Duvall. Slightly odd seeing Bale and those 2 on screen at the same time, you know, preceeding the whole Batman thing. All in all, it's ok, but certainly not memorable, Hollywood had a wee bit to go before the public starting buying musicals again.
