Review of New York Stories (1989) by Ben F — 30 Jun 2008
Overall, an almost dud. Luckily (biases aside), Woody Allen swoops in to save the audience after the atrocious Coppola segment that absolutely belly-flops. Scorsese's piece lets Nolte tear it up, but Rosanna Arquette lives up to miscasting infamy.
What Woody's short has that the others don't for this format is a single, simple concept that can deliver the right kind of closure in a tight package. Disappointing.
