Review of New York, I Love You (2008) by Adam B — 12 Mar 2011

The more I think about this film the more I think this film grows on me. I love the simple narrative, and the oddly joined together stories, and I love the New York scenery. I wouldn't say it was amazing, and I certainly don't think it will be a film for everyone - since its narrative is more the thing that binds these ordinary people together - that bind us together as a race - is the simple fact that we make these connections with people, and therefore the narrative is very disjointed and you don't really get to know the charatcers as you would do in a normal film with a straight narrative, but the more I reflect on that the more it makes the story powerful.

The acting from the cast was respectable, Anton Yelchin was as adorable and brilliant as ever, and Shia LaBeouf's depiction of his charatcer was hauntingly beautiful.

Cetainly one to try out, even if it ends up not being your kind of thing, as it allows you to do the same thing you do when you people watch - a chance to have a glimpse into anothers life and get a small fleeting idea of what it is that binds them to you.
