Review of New York, I Love You (2008) by Deb S — 01 Sep 2010
New York, I love you fails to take the city's pace into its stride and doesn't capture the essence of the city that it meant to pay tribute. Did I miss something? I saw no scenes in The Bronx, Staten Island or Queens! Perhaps we should rename it to Manhattan, I love you.
The story follows many characters and they somehow seem connected in the end but while the diversity from one story to another is creative and unique; I was expecting brilliance with such a star-studded cast. Needless to say I was a little disappointed. A couple of situations were no doubt funny and my favorite scenes would be the one where the young man took the girl in a wheelchair to prom and when the fast talking Ethan Hawke gets outwitted by the girl he's hitting on, (who unexpectedly turns out to be a hooker.) Bradley Cooper is always irresistible but I think this one will leave the average viewer unsatisfied.
