Review of New in Town (2009) by Alex S — 20 Apr 2010
To be quite honest, this movie was not released at the best time, since the recession was in full swing and people were losing jobs by the thousands. That fact aside, this film turned out to be quite delightful! My initial reservations on seeing it were based on the unfavourable reviews it recieved, but as in my cases, the "critics" were wrong.
New in Town has a good, solid story, with characters that feel realistic yet recognizable. One of the aspects that I love most about this film is how warm-hearted everyone is, which is true of small towns, especially where it's cold - and since this was filmed in Winnipeg, it really is that cold.
Thus, this is a very sweet movie, so throw out any reservations you may have and see it!
