Review of Never Say Never Again (1983) by Rich H — 03 Jul 2009
A pretty shoddy remake of Thunderball. All naff 80's music, bad dresses and hairstyles, and wigs of course. Sean Connery is way too old to be in any way believable. As for Barbara Carrera, she can't help the fact she's got an awful name, and some awful dialogue.
Claus Maria Brandauer is excellent though, if only he'd have been cast in a real Bond film. And to round things off in a really bad way, we have Rowan Atkinson. Oh dear. It did give Kim Basinger her breakthrough, whether or not that's a good thing is open to debate.
Stick with Thunderball, unless of course, you like bad 80's music and all the rest.
