The problem with this "unofficial" Bond is that it's trying NOT to be like the official series, but can't help that some things cannot be changed. The plot, while similiar to Thunderball, is not as good.
Connery looks just a little too old to be playing Bond again and some of the plot elements such as the video game which shocks people, the man with the President's eye implanted, and the scene where Bond basically gets the shit beat out of him are silly - in a bad way.
Still, plenty of action and an overall average film.
