Review of Never Say Never Again (1983) by Rob A — 06 Nov 2010
"Unofficial James Bond Movie". Doesn't that sentence just fill you with dread? Well it features a returning Sean Connery and the secondary cast including Edward Fox, Kim Basinger and Max von Sydow is fairly solid so it can't be that bad right? Well no, it's not, it's just very ordinary with very little that stands out.
I mean it has a fine quota of Bond staples: guns, gadgets, girls (no less than 4 in fact), the trouble is it all just comes off as very dull and it's hard to get too excited by Connery's return when you know he's only there for the pay cheque! Oh, and any Bond movie that begins with 007 heading to a health farm to get fit is just wrong! Gotta love the Rowan Atkinson bit part though, and make sure you don't miss one of the most hilariously bad moments involving a horse in movie history!
