Review of Never Say Never Again (1983) by Ken S — 25 Nov 2012
"Thunderball"...but wrinkled! The film is an odd little diversion in the Bond films...since it isn't officially part of the regular series. See this guy Kevin McClory got the rights in a settlement to remake only "Thunderball" (because he had actually co-written the original screenplay, which Fleming took all the credit for when he made it into a book).
..and he not only did it, he brought back Sean Connery to recreate the very film he starred in previously. Now while Connery is a welcome relief to Moore, the film is really not too much better than something like "For Your Eyes Only", and it isn't nearly as good as the earlier "Official" Connery entries.
I prefer the young Bond, and the stylish Bond, and Connery is too old, as was Moore at the time, but it is kind of neat to see Connery in the role one last time. Personally, I'd take "Thunderball" any day, but this is worth a look for Bond fans.
