Review of Never Let Me Go (2010) by Norma D — 30 Mar 2012
A tragic, sorrowful, but beautifully crafted love story, taking as its central premise the same science fiction concept as the action flick "The Island": that of young people raised in isolation to be organ donors for the general population.
But there are big differences between these films: for starters the focus is not on the science fiction or action, but on human emotions; furthermore these youngsters are raised in complete awareness of their purpose, accept their fate, even embrace it; but ultimately find that they cannot escape the tragic pain of being in love - and having it torn from us.
Superbly acted and directed, and well worth watching.
