It took me a while to find the time to sit down and watch this as it never seemed like an attention grabber... that and I also have come to loathe the jut-jawed whineyness of Keira Knightley. So I was pleasantly surprised that she played an absolute bitch! Huzzah!
What a beautifully sad story, shot with deliberate pace and sensitivity through the masterful eye of Romanek. Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield both embody the perfect youthful innocence and resigned melancholy that permeates the entire film.
I must track down the book.
