Review of Never Let Me Go (2010) by Amy R — 28 Jul 2012
Pretty, but preachy and sentimental. I think my biggest problem with this movie is that I never bought the ethical "dilemma" -- it's too easy for the audience to be shocked and horrified at this world, because most of us would never consider killing people for their organs.
Gattaca was a similarly didactic movie, but better because the issues it raised (free will versus biological determinism) hit a lot closer to home. Also it was much more gorgeously shot/designed.
