Review of Never Let Me Go (2010) by Panta O — 10 Dec 2012
This British science fiction drama is based on Kazuo Ishiguro's 2005 novel of the same name set in an alternate history. Directed by Mark Romanek from a screenplay by Alex Garland, the story follows Kathy, Ruth and Tommy (portrayed by Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightley and Andrew Garfield respectively), who become entangled in very strange love triangle. Exploring the subjects of having a soul and positive attitude towards life, as well as the human ability to look the other way when things are not quite right, the movie is alarming and upsetting in some scenes.
Production and the performances are very significant and you could see that everyone gave it's best - resulting in one of the most haunting films about love and death. Romanek was able to capture the wistfulness and the unpredictable tone of Ishiguro's novel, but the "revelation" comes way too early.
If thinking is your stronger point - this is the one to see!
