Review of Never Cry Wolf (1983) by John E — 17 Mar 2009
Director Carol Ballard does a beautiful job painting an icy world of solitute, fear, wonder and reflection. Never Cry Wolf is a haunting docu-drama about a lone scientist who travels to the sub-arctic to study the behavior of wolves.
Filled with jaw dropping cinematography and very fine acting by Charles Martin Smith, this film stands out as a shining example of man dealing with his fear of the unknown. This slow-moving, pure and sincere homage towards nature stands out amidst loud, generic Hollywood movies of today.
