Review of Never Been Kissed (1999) by Ryan V — 14 May 2012
Drew Barrymore plays a copy editor who poses as a high school student in order to get a story on "America's youth". This gives her a chance to relive her student years with all the wisdom she's acquired since graduation.
Never Been Kissed relies on the tried-and-true formula of a geeky wallflower coming out of their shell. That's not a bad concept, but this film is hobbled by its sloppy, unfunny, and dull execution.
Never Been Kissed is ultimately one of the most unremarkable examples of the many teen comedies pumped out in the mid-to-late 1990's.
