A film that tries to be like all those other formula films we saw from the 80s (Rocky, Karate Kid), but never dives deep enough for us to care about the superficial characters, turning into naive, cliche-ridden, homoerotic nonsense - as the director only seems to care if he's shooting the camera at, and leering at their physique.
