Review of Never Back Down (2008) by Raymond W — 14 Nov 2011
I've skimmed through a lot of these reviews and one thing is really pissing me off. Stop comparing this movie to "Fight Club"! I understand you comparing it to "The Karate Kid" since this movie is a carbon copy of it. But "Fight Club"?!
Why compare a provacative and incendiary tale of maladjusted masculinity with a cliche filled and forgetable boxing movie?
Having said that, I refuse to believe that any of the characters in the movie are in high school. Most of these people I would exspect to see at the Playboy mansion.
Also, the movie preaches that violence is wrong, yet it celebrates the main character's beatdowns. At least "Fight Club" did not preach anti-violence, contradicting the actions of the characters.
I say you don't need to see this movie because if you've seen "The Karate Kid" and watch a lot of UFC then you already have.
