Review of Network (1976) by Jonny B — 13 Mar 2011
Pauline Kael wrote that this film is just one long rant. Sorry Pauline that is not the case you should have maybe paid less attention to your infamous notepad while watching 'Network'. What 'Network' is is a perfect, powerful, truthful play turned into a film and a major kick in the balls to a viewer expecting just entertainment.
Oddly, when it comes to entertainment movies do not get more entertaining than seeing some of the greatest actors ever deliver stunning dialogue from a genius script (yes the G word). Miss. Kael, if this is one long rant then why are the themes so broad? The tragedies so classic? 'Network' is one of the best written films you will ever have the pleasure to watch.
And that's the truth.
