Review of Network (1976) by Paul J — 09 Feb 2013
Another Sidney Lumet masterpiece. Paddy Chayevsky's script is among the finest screenplays ever written. The cast is astonishing, right across the board. Even the supporting roles are memorable. It's sad that if this movie were made today it was have a cast of hot young actors.
The 70's films are so refreshing because the lead characters are real people. What makes this film so brilliant is how accurate its foresight on television would be. This intelligent tragedy is biting satire at its most profound and darkly funny.
