Review of Nerve (2016) by Spencer K — 10 Aug 2016
I was actually very pleasantly surprised with Nerve. what defiantly works the most here is the charisma, charm and chemistry between its two leads, Dave Franco and Emma Roberts. they're great in their roles and work wonderfully well together.
it's incredibly tense at times, I even caught myself gripping the arms of my chair which I wasn't really expecting to do with this movie. it's fast pace, sense of energy and its appeal to teens resonated with me well enough that I had a very good time with this movie.
it's fun, entertaining and while its plot may have been done before, it's executed well enough for me to look over those little flaws. however, in the third act it does go off the rails a little bit and at times becomes incredibly preposterous.
that final act is where the execution goes off, and while I didn't lose entire interest, it was a little jarring. these directors are incredibly talented, and Nerve is another fun movie of theirs that I found myself liking more than I ever thought I would.
