Review of Nekromantik 2 (1991) by Dan G — 26 Mar 2009
For all its faults, this was still well worth seeing and is well worth you seeing it too if you've got a strong stomach (particularly strong). I've been eagerly seeking out a 'shocking' movie that will actually shock me and have been disappointed for some time (Cannibal Holocaust? Meh.
) While this one did manage to gross even me out, it still wasn't quite exactly what I was looking for, as, while it was really sick, it wasn't a thriller (and I guess I want to be shocked by the gore in a thriller, not a.
.. whatever this is. Sick, twisted romance). Still, that this movie managed to shock me is nothing to take lightly. So see this for the shocks and marvel that a movie so obscure and for such a specialized market arrives on DVD with all the extras that it does.
The original Nekromantik film isn't available here and seems out of print and hard to come by, but don't worry; I didn't see it except for the preview for it on this DVD and I don't think I missed anything critical to the story of this sequel; it seems to be a mostly separate story that's just in a highly similar vein and that just so happens to use the corpse of the protagonist of the first film as a prop.
