Review of Neighbors (2014) by Brandon V — 15 Dec 2014
Once in a while, that rare comedy that comes along which seems to have an innate knowledge of all its kind preceding it; it knows the appeals, the successes, and the failures -- "Neighbors" is that comedy.
Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg have re-teamed after 2013's legendary "This is the End" to produce a similarly gut-busting... nay... gut-shattering barrel of laughs that has even more to offer beyond that.
What "This is the End" offered in subversion and genre-bending, "Neighbors" matches with incredible directorial flair from Nic Stoller, infectious heart, realistic character dynamics, and surprisingly potent (though rightfully subtle) social commentary.
This is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen, and that it's even more than that makes me unable to imagine if I could love the people involved in this project more than I already do.
