Review of Neighbors (2014) by Matthew C — 13 Dec 2015
This is one of those comedies that really surprises you with just how funny it is. Seriously, its trailers showcasing over-the-top gags in a yarn about generational rivalry didn't wow me. Great chemistry between Rogan and Efron (the latter showing startlingly on-point comic chops) goes a long way, however, in making this simple, yet increasingly high-stakes game of one-upmanship entertaining and relatable.
Supporting performances by Rose Byrne and Dave Franco are also quite comically strong. I'll knock off points for story predictability, but overall, this movie has no right to be this good.
