Review of Neighbors (2014) by Ryan B — 22 Oct 2014
Alright so I really wanted to like this movie but I'm sad to say I did not. It had it's moments but in general it just wasn't funny. Even the acting could have been better. The actors who are the wife (Rose Byrne) and the husband (Seth Rogen).
Byrne's accent sounded very fake, even though she is actually Australian, her accent sounded fake. Her acting wasn't that great and it sounded overdone, she's had better roles (for example: Insidious 1 + 2).
Rogen's wasn't that much better but his acting is pretty much the same in every movie he's in. The main point of this film is basically get either the frat house (which includes Zac Efron, Dave Franco, Christopher Mintz Plasse, and a bunch of other guys that I don't know) or the family to move out of the neighborhood.
The comedy is there for minor scenes and some of them are a little dragged on but when the laughter is there it doesn't really matter. There's not much else that's really in this movie. There's no action and the comedy is hardly there.
If there was quite a bit more comedy in the movie it wouldn't have been that bad but I'm glad I didn't buy it on Blu-Ray when I had the chance because it would've been wasted money. So no this movie is not worth buying.
...or even seeing for that matter. Unrecommended.
