Review of Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016) by Carter D — 18 May 2016
I don't think anyone was expecting much out of this movie being a comedy sequel and all (comedy sequels pretty much all suck). Surprisingly, this movie may be on par with the first one, albeit a little less funny. The movie dishes out new jokes mixed with some humor of the last film, which is all perfectly fine. Don't go to this movie and expect gut busting humor, but do expect a funny film throughout. On a side note, some scenes from the trailers were not in the movie which I found to be a little weird.
This movie definitely has a message to get across......sexism. I have to say that they handle it pretty well, seeing how most of the jokes in the movie are in that kind. It never feels like it's too much though, as there are funnier jokes sprinkled in there as well.
I was also hearing from many that Zac Efron was the standout in this film. I heavily disagree, as Ike Barinholtz really steals the show. Efron is still plenty fun in the film.
Overall, this movie wasn't really necessary, but it's a success among comedy sequels. Watch this movie for a good time with your friends.
