Review of Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016) by Patrick W — 30 May 2016
Where do I start?
First off, any level headed college freshman knows they a) just can't move off campus and b) can't rent a random house. After that, girls should know that if you want to have a house you can party in, rent one yourselves when you can get off campus. Being in a frat or sorority isn't always the answer.
Plot hole points aside, this movie recycled a lot of the same plot points as the first film but didn't execute them quite as well. Too many "toddler holding vibrator gags" also. One or two could've been effective. Two of the funnier lines in the film (from Seth Rogen and Jerrod Carmichael) were from scenes not involving any of the "sorority" girls.
This film was littered with politically charged "how bad sexism is in the US" and "women are always the victims" messages. You could literally not count the amount of glaring examples on all your fingers and toes. This waters down the story even more to say that younger girls have to use "evil patriarchy" as an excuse for everything rather than "let's just have fun.".
Really not expecting another sequel as this underperformed quite a bit. Also the only place they could go from here is "Neighbors 3: Enter the Sorternity" where Trans students create a Greek house and move in next to Zac Efron and his roommate Ted Nugent and the battle ensues...
