Review of Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016) by Jaime L — 21 May 2016
While I grinned a few times in the theater watching this, there were no outright laughs for me here unlike the original film. Seemed more interested in coasting off of the original film and its jokes (they did a version of the Robert de Niro bit from the first Neighbors that was alright for instance) but really didn't bring anything new to the table.
Because of this and characters I couldn't get invested in Neighbors 2 simply couldn't reach the levels of its predecessor. Perhaps the sequel was really about pushing feminism on the audience then making us laugh, it does that several times so perhaps it succeeds more as propaganda than as a comedy film.
