Review of Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016) by Ethan P — 13 Jul 2016
Imagine a bunch of producers and writers sit around a table at the studio, get baked off their ass and then hash out the sequel to Neighbors in like 15 minutes. That is Neighbors 2. It was satisfyingly funny and had interesting ideas like the girls starting a sorority based in feminism and girl power, but it wasn't a life changing or unique story.
It relied a lot of on shock humor and very weird lines to get crazy laughs. The story line was kind of pathetic. The girls start a sorority, the family next door tries to stop them and the girls sell weed and throw parties to keep the sorority going.
It has little thought to it, but its rowdy and fun. I liked that the girls introduced the idea of feminism and challenged the sexist social norms of college life. Some of the jokes they milked a little too much, though, like the daughter playing with the dildo the entire movie.
I was sick of that. Zac Efron also wasn't a great character. Altogether, the movie was fine, but I imagine that the original is much better.
