Review of Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising (2016) by Andrew M — 16 Jun 2016

When the opening scene of a movie features one character vomiting on the face of an other while they're having sex, I kinda figure I'm in for a rough ride. Thankfully, nothing gets quite that bad again, but it never really recovers either.

Not helping is that, as admittedly unfair as it is that sororities can't throw parties (FYI, it's not a law but a rule of the majority sorority organization), that does not excuse having a loud party in a residential neighborhood. If you're being that loud that late at night, I'm calling the cops with a noise complaint. Selling illegal drugs (whether I think pot should be illegal is beside the point), hacking their phones, then robbing their house and selling their stuff? Yeah, sorry, absolutely no sympathy. Oh, and the hypocrisy, too: you want your own sorority so you can throw parties where you feel comfortable (yes, agreed), but then later intentionally tanning on the neighbor's lawn in bikinis to make THEM uncomfortable?

I did laugh a few times, mainly at a few of Zac Efron's scenes, but mostly I was just underwhelmed.
