Review of Needful Things (1993) by Kate D — 02 Jan 2009
As I've stated in my review for "Misery", I've never been a huge fan of Stephen King Adaptations. And that stands firm for this particular one. The novel itself was pretty engrossing as you watch the towns people emotionally devolve from civilized, principled humans into ones that give up their ideals and manners for an addiction to their false dreams... much the way drug addicts fall victim to their pushers. The novel is a great study on this "addict" phenomena, but the movie doesn't even come close to exploring this well enough.
I will say that watching Castle Rock blow up into bits and pieces was fun... kinda reminded me of the episode of "Little House on the Prairie" where they blew the town up as well.
